Visitors to the 2022 Southport Airshow will see the Red Arrows return to the event for the first time in four years.

Sefton Council has confirmed the Red Arrows, Typhoon, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and more will be on display at the 2022 Southport Air Show, which takes place on Saturday, July 9, and Sunday, July 10.

Thousands of aviation enthusiasts are expected at the event and it will be the first time in seven years that the world famous Red Arrows will scream over on both days. The “teeth-rattling” RAF Typhoon and inspirational Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are also making a much-welcomed return to Southport’s golden coastline.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, said: “2022 is truly an iconic year for the Southport Air Show with the Red Arrows appearance to help us celebrate our triumphant return to hosting huge events in the borough.

“People from all over the UK and Europe make the trip to Southport Air Show, such is its illustrious place in the aviation world and we know from ticket sales already that we can expect huge crowds this July.

“We know how much of a major attraction the Red Arrows can have and we are delighted to have them perform over both days. This announcement will mean ticket sales will skyrocket and I’d urge everyone to ensure they snap up a ticket quickly before they are sold out.”

This year for the first time, general admission for under 16 years is free while early bird general admission prices for adults are on sale for £8 and £7 at the group rate. Also new for 2022 are exclusive tickets for the Pier Viewing area where visitors can watch the show from the best seats in the house.

Pier Viewing early bird tickets cost £18 for adults and £9 for children (5-15s). To book tickets visit www.southportairshow.com
